In this talk, Tatsiana Haiden analysed the pre-conditions for today's activist turn in Translation Studies. She discussed the results of her research taken from the Zsolnay correspondence archive, and the role of the translator in the publishing industry.
Tatsiana Haiden is a PhD student at the University of Vienna and IFK junior fellow. She previously studied at the Belarusian State University and University of Turin. She has worked as a translator in Belarus, Italy, Germany and Austria. Her research interests are translation history and translation sociology. Haiden investigates the social side of the translation process in the interwar period in Austria and focuses on translators as agents, their life circumstances, aims, and professional self-reflection.
