I am a DPhil candidate at the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages. My thesis is interested in the intersections of language (and translingualism) and national identity, particularly in émigré writing. My thesis looks at selected works by Stefan and Franciszka Themerson, Józef Czapski, and Maria Kuncewicz in light of their search for a new language for Polish literature. I work across English, Polish, and German, but am more broadly interested in European Modernism and the avant-garde, as well as in postcolonial theory in East-Central European contexts. I co-convene the OCCT Discussion Group, as well as the Polish Studies Working Group, and I am a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the MSt in Comparative Literature and Critical Translation (CLCT) programme.
